First SP10 Contest for Robin's Group

Hi everyone -
For those of you in my group, here is our first contest!

Please post (on your blog) about your favorite yarn and your least favorite yarn (if you have one!) What have you made with it? Tell us about your experiences!

In order to be eligible for the prize drawing, please post by Sunday night (4/1). I will then randomly select one of you for the prize - which is... a $20 Elann.com gift certificate!!!!

I've only heard from a few of you regarding issues contacting your pals - please let me know at rmartin_cpa at hotmail dot com if you haven't been in contact with both your spoiler and your spoilee. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Robin :)

OOOOO, Robin, this is a good one!

My favorite yarn to date is hands down the Lisa Souza Superfine Superwash Merino. It is sooooo soft, and her colorways are fabulous. You can see what I'm making with my 3 skeins of Violet's Pink Ribbon here:

It's a treat to work with...now that I'm knitting I'm going to have to get me some to make socks out of!

Least favorite isn't hard at all , though it came as quite a surprise as I've really never really thought really seriously bad thoughts about a yarn before. But the Lion Brand Microspun pushed me to it. I had bought a bazillion colors to make a floral motif granny square blanket for my daughter. Soft and washable, right? Yep, but also splitty as splitty can be and the ends are weave-in resistant it apprears. The yarn is so slick they just worm their way right out. You can imagine how frustrating that is with granny squares. So I have a bag of it stuffed in a closet awaiting some greater purpose.

Thanks for the game Robin, this is going to be fun!

OOPs, the links are too long to show. If you want to see the projects, check out the "ode to my new cookbook" post on my blog in March, and the archived post from 2/6/07 on the violet's ribbon blog. sorry about that!

One of my favorites id TLC Cotton Plus. I do a lot of knitting for babies and it knits up so nice and soft for little baby skin. Here is a blanket that I did in that yarn

And it turns out that it is the favorite blanket of the baby that it went too. Which makes me SO happy.

I hope everyone has fun playing!!!

YEAH - I LOVE contests. In fact I have one at my blog for my Blogiversary so everyone come check it out! www.resipsaknit.blogspot.com
Now for this one - my absolute FAVORITE yarn is Debbie Bliss Alpaca silk in the DK weight. I love it, love it, love it! As to least favorite I'd have to say chenile. I like the way it ends up but I just HATE knitting with it - it catches on everything! Thanks for doing this Robin!
